BUS RIDER ATTITUDES AND CHARACTERISTICS

DURING NOVEMBER 1971 THE CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY (CTA) CONDUCTED A MASSIVE SURVEY TO OBTAIN RIDER OPINIONS ON THE SERVICES PROVIDED BY ITS NEW BUSES. ONE OF THE MOST REMARKABLE FINDINGS OF THE STUDY WAS THAT AGE, INCOME, SEX, TIME OF DAY, SUBMODE, AND ATTITUDE ARE ALL A FUNCTION OF THE FREQUENCY WITH WHICH THE BUS SERVICE IS USED. THE RESULTS ARE REPORTED IN TWO TABLES.
