THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THE PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP EXPERIMENTAL JOB TRANSPORTATION ROUTES TO A LEVEL WHERE THEY MAY BE ECONOMICALLY INTEGRATED INTO THE TOTAL SYSTEM OF THE PARENT BUS COMPANY ON A PERMANENT BASIS. THE GENERAL PURPOSES OF THE PROJECT ARE: TO TEST THE EFFICIENCY AND DESIRABILITY OF EXRESS TRANSIT SERVICE BETWEEN POCKETS OF HARDCORE UNEMPLOYMENT AND AREAS OF NEW JOB OPPORTUNITIES, TO DETERMINE IF SPECIALIZED SERVICE WOULD LEAD TO INCREASED JOB OPPORTUNITIES, TO EVALUATE THE FEASIBILITY OF PROVIDING SPECIALIZED TRANSPORTATION, AND TO TEST VARIOUS PROMOTIONAL TECHNIQUES IN AREAS OF HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT. /NTIS/
