TRANSPORTATION CONSIDERATIONS OF REGIONAL SHOPPING CENTERS

TRANSPORTATION CONSIDERATIONS OF REGIONAL SHOPPING CENTERS WERE STUDIED FROM TWO DISTINCT ASPECTS: LAND DEVELOPMENT AND TRAFFIC OPERATIONS. THE TRADITIONAL CONCEPT OF THE REGIONAL CENTER IS MOVING TOWARD THE APPEARANCE OF A NEW CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT, GIVING WAY TO A MULTIPURPOSE ACTIVITY CENTER CONTAINING A WIDE VARIETY OF LAND USES AND IN SOME CASES VARYING TYPES OF TRANSPORTATION MODES. DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL SHOPPING CENTERS SHOULD INCLUDE TRAFFIC ENGINEERING IMPROVEMENTS ON ADJACENT ROADS, ENTRANCE AND EXIT POINTS, INTERNAL CIRCULATION OF AUTOMOBILES AND TRANSIT VEHICLES, AND PEDESTRIAN ACCESS FROM THE PARKING AREA. /AUTHOR/
