THE PERFORMANCES OF ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES
BETRIEBSVERHALTEN ELEKTRISCHER LOKOMOTIVEN
Basing on the main criteria applicable to electric locomotives, the author analyses the behaviour in service, and the characteristics, of the German Federal Railway's latest series as well as the effect of their installations for the transformation of current on the sub-station equipment. He describes the conditions which appear to be the most advantageous from the point of view of the use of the maximum adhesion in relation to the weight on rail, the diameter of the axles, and the wheelbase. He concludes that the control of the locomotives by phase regulation would face the sub-stations with increasing problems.
