SUSPENSION CHARACTERISTICS OF MAGNETICALLY SUSPENDED HIGH SPEED TRAINS

The example studied is that of electro-magnetic suspension by means of the interaction between the induction field of the coils carried by the mobile agent, and the field created by the currents induced in the fixed coils. Assuming that the train and track are of infinite length, the authors establish the formulae showing, in a stationary position, the strength of suspension, the magnetic drive, and, in certain cases, the guiding force. They establish diagrams showing these forces in relation to the speed, the height of suspension, and the electric characteristics of the coils. They also discuss a stabilizing guidance system.
