A CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS THE CALCULATION OF THE CARRYING AND TRACTIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF ASYNCHRONOUS LINEAR MOTORS

In the case of asynchronous linear motors, normal forces for carrying and tractive purposes are involved, in addition to propelling forces for the transmission. Calculations show that, in the sliding area of between 0 and some 0.15 both the propelling forces and the normal forces increase linearly as from 0. In the case of higher slipping values, the propelling forces decrease hyperbolically as from the tilting point, whereas the normal forces remain almost the same. Because of their small value, and the dependency on sliding, the normal forces are scarcely suitable for carrying and tractive purposes in the case of vehicles.
