CONCERN FOR HUMAN FACTORS SEEN IN MOST AREAS OF HRB'S MEETING

INTEREST IN HUMAN FACTORS EXTENDED WELL BEYOND THE 52ND ANNUAL MEETING OF THE HIGHWAY RESEARCH BOARD. OUT OF 64 PAPER AND SYMPOSIUM SESSIONS 10 WERE HUMAN FACTORS RELATED. IN ADDITION, OF THE MORE THAN 170 TECHNICAL COMMITTEES, SUBCOMMITTEES, AND TASK FORCES THAT HELD MEETINGS, A DOZEN WERE SUBSTANTIALLY OR FULLY HUMAN FACTORS ORIENTED. THE SIXTH ANNUAL HUMAN FACTORS WORKSHOP IN HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION EXPRESSED PARTICULAR INTEREST IN DRIVER EDUCATION.
