TOWN PLANNING AND TRAFFIC NOISE

THE POINT OF VIEW IS GIVEN OF THE PLANNERS AND ARCHITECTS WHO HAVE TO EVALUATE PROBLEMS OF TRAFFIC AND TRAFFIC NOISE AND ASSESS THEIR IMPLICATIONS. THE THREE FACTORS WHICH NEED TO BE ASSESSED BY THEM ARE: (1) LEVEL OF NOISE THRESHOLD, (2) TRAFFIC DENSITY, TRAFFIC COMPOSITION, LENGTH OF PEAK PERIODS, AND THE NOISE INTENSITY WHICH HAS TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT, AND (3) RANGE OF INTENSITY OF NOISE THAT CAN BE EXPECTED WITHIN A GIVEN BUILDING ENVIRONMENT AND THE STEPS WHICH CAN BE TAKEN TO REDUCE NOISE INTENSITY WITHIN THE BUILDING ITSELF. /TRRL/
