ROLE OF SYSTEMS ANALYSIS IN TRANSPORTATION CURRICULA

THIS PAPER SUGGESTS SOME GUIDELINES ON HOW SYSTEMS ANALYSIS SHOULD BE USED IN TRANSPORTATION AND ON WHICH TECHNIQUES SHOULD BE DEVELOPED FOR WHAT RESEARCH. SIX HYPOTHESES ARE PRESENTED, AND THE IMPLICATIONS OF THESE HYPOTHESES FOR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT ARE DISCUSSED AND RELATED TO CURRENT EXPERIENCE AT M.I.T. THE PAPER DEFINES THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO SYSTEMS ANALYSIS, AND THE DIFFICULTIES INVOLVED IN ESTABLISHING A MULTIDISCIPLINARY EFFORT IN PROBLEM SOLVING ARE POINTED OUT. /AUTHOR/
