SIX CONTRACTS FOR MUNICIPAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS ANNOUNCED

THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCED THE SIGNING OF CONTRACTS WITH THE FOLLOWING SIX MUNICIPALITIES TO DEVELOP PROTOTYPE MUNICIPAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS: CHARLOTTE, N.C., WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND FOUR SUB-SYSTEMS; HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT, ST. PAUL, MINN., PHYSICAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, READING, PA., PUBLIC FINANCE, DAYTON, OHIO, AND PUBLIC SAFETY, LONG BEACH, CALIF. THE MUNICIPAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND SUB-SYSTEMS, WHICH RESPECTIVELY WILL BE THREE AND TWO YEARS IN DEVELOPMENT, WILL BE COMPUTER-BASED SYSTEMS DESIGNED, DOCUMENTED, AND PROGRAMMED PREDOMINANTLY IN COMMON BUSINESS ORIENTED LANGUAGE. USING THE ASSISTANCE OF THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES/US CONFERENCE OF MAYORS AND THE INTERNATIONAL CITIES MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, A SERIES OF TECHNICAL NEWSLETTERS WILL BE ISSUED TO KEEP ALL MUNICIPALITIES AND UNITS OF GOVERNMENT POSTED ON THE PROGRESS OF THE PROJECTS.
