Games to test Future City control room

The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will test the new Glasgow Operations Centre, which is now Scotland’s largest urban control center. The center combines the city’s traffic management camera network with the Community Safety Glasgow crime and anti-social behavior prevention array. Combining the systems has allowed for joint access to all closed-circuit television in the city. The center has approximately 1,000 screens and is a major part of the Future City Glasgow demonstrator program. Two main tasks of the operations center are to provide a central platform to share information and coordinate incident response and to coordinate real-time management of the road network. The center’s facilities will remain after the Games have ended and continue to aid the city.
