Near-Term Transportation Energy and Climate Change Strategies: Interregional Transportation Related Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Strategies

Legislation in California provides targets and a framework for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This report offers tools to Caltrans to assist with determining which GHG reduction strategies should be pursued to reduce vehicle miles of travel for interregional travel within the state. It assesses the potential magnitude of emissions reduction from strategies where data is available and develops level of confidence estimates for various strategies. It also estimates the social and political acceptability of potential GHG reduction strategies. This research also provides inputs to the California Statewide Travel Demand Model.
