Michigan State Police 2011 Police Vehicle Tire Evaluation

This article reports findings from a tire testing program conducted on Michigan State Police vehicles in 2011. Whole vehicle tests measuring straight line stopping distance, maximum lateral acceleration in a steady state turn, wet jennite stopping distance and braking in turn on wet asphalt were conducted. All vehicle tests were conducted with original equipment tires, and tires west tested in both a new tire condition and worn tire condition after 100 laps around a one-mile road course simulating pursuit or emergency driving conditions.
