Autonomous Driving System: A Cooperative Driving Approach to Increase Driving Safety

This paper proposes cooperative autonomous vehicle system with infrastructure sensors. The current standalone autonomous vehicles suffer from reduced safety and expensive cost. The cooperative driving approach enhances driving safety of driverless cars. The cooperative autonomous driving system composed of cooperative autonomous vehicles and infrastructure system. The cooperative autonomous vehicles receive value-added safety information from the infrastructure through wireless communication. The vehicles may be free from blind spots and upcoming danger with the help of infrastructure system.
