The Development of ITS Cloud Services in Taiwan
This paper describes current development of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) services in Taiwan, and especially focuses on Advanced Traveler Information Services (ATIS) field. In the development of ATIS, Taiwan government faces some challenges including the lack of good traffic information content, high demand for real-time traffic information and storing and analyzing of massive amount of historical data. To overcome these challenges, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) develops a multi-source traffic cloud information system to integrate and analyze data collected from vehicle detectors (VD), GPS-based vehicle probes (GVP), electronic toll collection (ETC)-based vehicle probes (EVP) and cellular-based vehicle probes (CVP). And CHT also deploys a mobile app providing traffic information services for users.
