Study of Notification System for Elderly Drivers

In recent years, the number of traffic accidents involving elderly drivers has been gradually increasing. One of the reasons for this is believed to be that elderly drivers have the tendency to exhibit decreased attention and concentration capabilities. To improve these abilities, the authors propose a notification system using a “point and calling method ” for elderly drivers. The authors use autonomous nervous system and brain activity together with a visual analog scale to evaluate this method. The authors' results show that their proposed “point and calling” method effectively enables safe driving among elderly drivers.
