How to Attract and Promote Young Talent in ITS

In order to encourage for young talents, the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), the host of the 19th ITS World Congress put “Talents for ITS” on top of the political agenda for the World Congress in Vienna 2012. A variety of activities were designed to attract and to promote talent for ITS. Those activities applied different methods to make school children and students enthusiastic about this new career. BMVIT initiated and financed all those activities and implemented them together with its agency AustriaTech GmbH with great success. This paper aims to pass on all the best practices and lessons learned from those activities on to the future hosts of the ITS World Congresses in order to ensure that the topic stays on top of the global political agenda and is developed in the future.
