Improvement of Maintenance Skill and Technology by Utilizing Technical Training Center (TTC)

Fifty (50) years passed since expressways in Japan had begun service. Currently maintenance and repair works of the expressways are getting more important because of deterioration of road structures and facilities, damages by disaster, an increment in traffic and the increasing size of vehicles. The authors execute periodical inspection works to keep the expressways safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to always ensure the expressways safety and provide users with secure and comfortable driving. In addition to this, the authors established technical training institute called Technical Training Center (TTC) in order to improve our technology and skills for preservation inspection and facility maintenance in April, 2012. This paper mainly introduces the authors challenges for improvement and advancement of maintenance skills and technology for electronic toll collection (ETC) equipment by utilizing the training institute.
