VALUATION REPORT-TRANSIT COMPANIES IN GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA

THIS VALUATION OF PHYSICAL ASSETS WILL SERVE AS A GUIDE IN DETERMINING THE CAPITAL REQUIREMENTS PREPARATORY TO THE ACQUISITION AND UNIFICATION OF THE TRANSIT COMPANIES IN THE GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA. IT INCLUDES A VALUATION OF ROLLING STOCK; SHOP EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY, SERVICE EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, SUPPLIES, SPARE PARTS, OFFICE EQUIPMENT AND SPECIAL GARAGE EQUIPMENT SUCH AS BUS HOISTS, BUS WASHERS, AND ANY OTHER SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT. THE APPRAISAL OF PHYSICAL ASSETS WAS BASED UPON A PHYSICAL INSPECTION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF A "CURRENT SERVICE VALUE" FOR THE VARIOUS ASSETS. THE VALUATION OF BUSES INCLUDED THE CONSIDERATION OF SUCH FACTORS AS THE AGE OF THE BUS, THE TOTAL CHASSIS MILEAGE, THE TOTAL ENGINE MILEAGE, THE MAKE AND MODEL OF THE BUS, THE SEATING CAPACITY, AND THE PHYSICAL CONDITION OF THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE BUS. KANSAS CITY TRANSIT, INC. WAS FOUND TO POSSESS THE MOST EXTENSIVE PHYSICAL ASSETS OF THE TEN TRANSIT COMPANIES APPRAISED. ITS BUS FLEET TOTALS 350 VEHICLES, AND THE COMPANY OWNS AND OPERATES A TOTAL OF FIFTEEN TRUCKS, THREE AUTOMOBILES, AND ONE MOTORCYCLE. THE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED IN THE COMPANY'S BUS MAINTENANCE PROGRAM ARE GENERALLY MODERN AND EFFICIENT. THERE IS SUFFICIENT SPACE AND ENOUGH PITS AT BOTH OPERATING STATIONS FOR THE INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF THE ASSIGNED BUSES. KANSAS CITY TRANSIT'S TOTAL SERVICE VALUE WAS APPRAISED AT $4,177.965. /UMTA/
