Dowel Bars for Joints in Concrete Slabs
Kluzne trny v cementobetonovem krytu
Concrete pavements are designed for heavy loaded pavement structures of roads and airfields. Their usage brings number of specific issues. It is necessary to solve all of them to ensure that concrete pavements will fulfil their function througout the whole design period. One of these problems is the issue of dowel bars, which are located in transverse joints and at airports also in longitudinal joints of pavement. Modeling of load, arising from heavy vehicles or landing aircrafts, by finite element method provides valuable information about the stress condition of concrete pavement. The results of modeling can be verified by practical measurement by strain gauges properly placed directly into the pavement structure or by laboratory experiments.
