Mobility, inequality and spatial public policies in Lisbon Metropolitan Area. Are we planning more justice?

In people’s mobility place displays a central role as structure (spatial organization) and in public policy (spatial planning). In-between urban structure and peoples traveling behaviours, spatial public policy should be called to reduce social inequality and to promote more just territories, environmentally and well as socially sustainable. From this starting point we examine Lisbon’s Metropolitan Area policies on mobility and spatial planning. The social dimension continues to be a peripheral matter on the mobility studies and planning despite some change in the discursive field. Present times pose particularly difficult challenges considering financial and political problems associated with the Portuguese external dependence.
