HUD FUNDED STUDY TO FOCUS ON MODEL CITY TRANSIT NEEDS

A TECHNICAL STUDY OF TRANSPORTATION NEEDS IS BEING CONDUCTED IN A COMMUNITY'S MODEL CITY AREA. THE SPECIFIC TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS OF THE MODEL CITY RESIDENTS ARE BEING DETERMINED IN TERMS OF ACCESS TO PLACES OF EMPLOYMENT, HEALTH AND RECREATION FACILITIES, EDUCATION AND TRAINING CENTERS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY FACILITIES. THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO RESULT IN A PROGRAM TO INCREASE THE MOBILITY OF AREA RESIDENTS, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE ELDERLY, THE YOUNG AND THE HANDICAPPED. TRANSPORTATION NEEDS ARE TO BE RELATED TO THE ENTIRE FRAMEWORK OF URBAN ACTIVITIES, SERVICES, AND FUNCTIONS.
