Study of the influence on addition of nylon fibers on the mechanical behavior of HMA

In the present study sought to study the addition of nylon fiber, as alternative aggregate in asphalt mixtures. The surface structure of the nylon fiber was obtained by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) .The Nylon fibers were added to Hot Mix Asphalt - HMA in order to study their behavior. Tests were carried out for Resistance to Traction and Resilient Module and its results presented with mixes of the same type, but without adding fiber, only with conventional aggregates. The mechanical tests carried out showed that the nylon fiber increases the resistance of asphalt mixture. And all the features analyzed fiber and mixture made corroborate to conclude that the use of the new material is favorable for paving.
