Air quality and road transport: impacts and solutions
Air pollution is a major issue of concern to the public and politicians, with the focus of attention being on poor air quality and way it affects the quality of life in urban areas. It is well recognised that road transport plays a significant part in air pollution in urban environments, and thus contributes to this public health issue. This report reviews the latest evidence in relation to transport and air pollution, and aims to address three key questions: 1. What role does road transport play in relation to air pollution in towns and cities? 2. What is the health impact of this pollution, and what are the associated economic costs? 3. What are the main solutions for reducing air pollution from transport?
