Human Centered Design for Ecomobility: The DECOMOBIL Project

Due to the spreading out of nomadic devices such as smartphones, allowing easy access to complex functionalities, an important part of travelers and drivers population can be informed "any where" and at "any time". Easy access to information has high potential benefits for a clean and efficient multi-modal mobility. Nevertheless, designing a user-friendly and safe-use interface is a challenge, and benefits in using low cost mobile services supporting eco-mobility could be counterbalanced by a negative impact in terms of road safety when smartphones are used while driving. Among other topics, DECOMOBIL project studied the issue of ergo-design and safety use of the nomadic applications in transport, identifying and debating challenges to face, approaches and processes to develop and methods to use. Main results and conclusions of this work are presented in this paper.
