Study on Emergency Traffic Evacuation Based on Cell Transmission Model (CTM)

Under natural disasters such as typhoons, hurricanes, floods and so on, it’s necessary to evacuate the affected population to safe shelters quickly, so as to reduce the casualties and property losses, thereby the large-scale emergency traffic evacuation becomes more and more important. Based on the theory of the cell transmission model (CTM), an emergency traffic evacuation model is build and presented in this paper, with the objective to minimize the total travel time. The numerical solution and the microscopic traffic simulation methods are combined together, the emergency traffic evacuation model is solved numerically, the evacuation process is simulated microscopicly using microscopic traffic simulation software, these two results are analyzed comparatively to make the study closed to the actual situation. Case study is carried out for the emergency traffic evacuation model, the results show that the numerical results have good consistency with the simulation results.
