In this paper, the authors present a comprehensive review on a variety of tradable credit schemes. First, the authors explore the development of tradable credit schemes and summarize the characteristics of tradable credits schemes with respect to qualitative properties, mathematical models and theoretical properties. Then, the authors investigate the variants of tradable credit schemes from 12 perspectives. Finally, the authors make concluding remarks and offer some perspectives for future research.
