Development of the Intelligent High-Speed Maglev Switch Controlling System

This article describes the development of the new generation switch controlling system (SCS) for high-speed maglev, as well as the new solutions for the problems found in the current SCS. The last ten years of operation and maintenance have shown that the current SCS on the Shanghai maglev demonstration line is safe, effective and available. Meanwhile, some disadvantages at certain circumstances were also discovered. Based on these disadvantages, NMTC and SMTDC developed a new generation of SCS for further engineering applications. Compared with the current one, the new SCS is more intelligent and humanized in such aspects as: hardware crossing redundant control logic, complex diagnostic information classification logic, and in-field switch-initializing operation logic. This new intelligent logic greatly improves the availability and maintainability of the switch. It also lays the foundation for the usage and maintenance of a large number of switches in future.
