Foot Traffic Ahead: Ranking Walkable Urbanism in America's Largest Metros
This report ranks the 30 largest U.S. metropolitan areas based on walkable urban places (WalkUPs). The methodology for the rankings are outlined along with a description of the categories of the 558 WalkUPs. The walkable urbanism of each metro is presented in a table including number of WalkUPs, population, and office and retail space. Future rankings are also projected. Possible links between education, income, and urban walkability are explored. Closer looks at some of the metropolitan areas, including Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Atlanta, are included.
