A Resistivity-Based Approach to Optimizing Concrete Performance

The permeability of concrete can be assessed relatively simply when measuring surface resistivity (SR). Many agencies are turning to the SR test as an alternative to more time-consuming options. SR testing can also be used to predict the performance of concrete mixtures during the mixture design stage. This approach to long-term performance prediction is simple, quick, and nondestructive, and it can help agencies design a concrete mixture that fits their required performance criteria. SR measurements can help in understanding the influence of binder composition on the rate of microstructural development, which can improve concrete performance.
