THE STUDY OF AIR POLLUTION IN PARIS AND SURROUNDING DISTRICTS IN 1967 /IN FRENCH/

THIS REPORT CONTAINS DETAILS OF A SERIES OF STUDIES CONDUCTED DURING 1967. OPERATION "CARBON MONOXIDE" STUDIED AIR POLLUTION FROM VEHICLE EXHAUST FUMES AT VARIOUS CROSSINGS IN PARIS; OPERATION "LOOP OF THE SEINE" INVESTIGATED DUST FALL-OUT IN THE NORTHWEST ZONE OF THE RIVER BETWEEN NANTERRE AND VILLENEUVE-LA-GARENNE. TWO OTHER STUDIES WERE CARRIED OUT: ONE DEALING WITH DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF AIR POLLUTION ARISING FROM THE CONSTRUCTION OF UNDERGROUND CAR PARKS; A COMPARATIVE STUDY WAS MADE OF THE QAULITY OF THE AIR BLOWN IN FOR VENTILATION PURPOSES AND THAT OF THE AIR EXPELLED BY THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO FIND OPTIMAL LOCATIONS FOR CONTROLLING CARBON MONOXIDE CONTENT IN UNDERGROUND CAR PARKS. THE LAST STUDY, WHICH EXTENDED OVER TWO YEARS, INVESTIGATED THE QUALITY OF THE AIR IN THE TAXIHALL AT THE GARE MONTPARNASSE. IT SHOWED THE IMPROVEMENT RESULTING FROM MODIFICATIONS IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. /LCPC/A/RRL/
