Colombia's integrated sustainability

Medellín, Colombia’s second-largest city, is increasing its investment in mobility. The city is known for its sustainable transportation. As part of the expansion of the current system, Medellín is introducing an enhanced integrated traffic management array and an intermodal public transit management system. The city’s traffic control center has also been recently upgraded. The city’s Intelligent System for the Mobility of Medellín (SIMM) has been implemented, replacing a basic camera system, using traffic sensors, closed-circuit television, variable messaging signs, and networked traffic signals. Medellín won the Innovative City of the Year award in 2013, highlighting the city’s innovation and transformation.
