Survey shows cities' shortcomings

The second "Future of Urban Mobility" study has found that many cities around the world are not prepared to deal with projected increases in demands on travel. The survey looked at 84 cities and rated them by a set of criteria. Urbanization is increasing, and many mobility systems are already overloaded. Urban travel is expected to triple by 2050. The study has shown that use of shared mobility is growing, as is the use of smartcards. Recommendations for cities with high proportions of automobile use is to focus on public transit and sustainability.
