Maritime Transport Security: Issues, Challenges and National Policies

The aim of this book is to discuss the major issues and concerns regarding maritime security and to present a comparative analysis of maritime security policies and practices in several countries. Terrorism in general and piracy in particular are covered from a multidisciplinary perspective. Part I is an introduction to maritime security policy, regulations, risk, and economic frameworks. Part II presents case studies of policy applications related to several geographic regions, including North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Small Islands Developing States. The last chapter concludes by comparing and analyzing maritime security policies, relevant benchmarks, and best practices.
