Driver Adaptation to Information and Assistance Systems

Research on drivers' behavioral adaptation to new driver information and assistance technology has been undertaken by ADAPTATION, a project of the Marie-Curie Initial Training Network. This book is a compilation of recent research from the project. The aim is to provide the reader with an understanding of drivers' adaptation processes; the short, medium, and long-term effects of technology on driver behavior; the impact of age on technology use and acquisition of skills; and the influence of system design and functionality on drivers' adaptation. A literature review and recommendations for further research are also included.
