A Sea Change in South Florida

Railroad transportation in Florida has helped the growth and development of the region since the nineteenth century. Today, the rail lines continue to be an important fixture for mobility. Highways are congested, and an expansion to the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) could improve transportation for the area. There are proposals to establish a new commuter rail link, an intercity passenger rail service from Miami to Orlando, and a line connect the coast to a rail corridor farther west. These projects would improve travel , providing more options and flexibility.
