MANY OF THE ADVANTAGES OF CONTAINERIZATION, SUCH AS COST SAVINGS, REDUCED DAMAGE AND LOSSES, AND SIMPLIFICATION OF TRADE, ALREADY HAVE BEEN PARTIALLY REALIZED. HOWEVER, BEFORE INTEGRATED AND EFFECTIVE INTERMODAL SYSTEMS CAN BE ACHIEVED, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO OVERCOME A NUMBER OF LEGAL, OPERATIONAL, AND ECONOMIC BARRIERS AND PROBLEMS.
