County-to-County Commuting Flows: 2006-10

The U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) tables present information about where people work by both residence-based and workplace-based data products, but information about the residence/workplace relationship is not provided as an origin-destination combination. Although not included among standard ACS data products, commuting flow estimates are provided as part of the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB's) effort to delineate the nation's metropolitan, micropolitan, and related statistical areas using ACS data. This paper summarizes county-level commuting flows, based on the 2006-2010 five-year ACS estimates, used in OMB's 2013 metropolitan and micropolitan statistical area delineations.
