Analysis on Inducing Factors to Inrushing Plastic Deformation Failure of Foundation Pit with Confined Water

Aiming at the foundation pit in soft soil areas which has underlying hard soil and confined aquifer, the 3D finite element calculation model of the plastic deformation failure of inrushing of the foundation pit was used to analyze the influence of inducing factors (confined water head, length and width size of the pit) on inrushing plastic deformation failure of the pit. The results show that the uplift deformation and inrushing plastic deformation failure of the soil beneath the pit are nonlinearly proportional to the confined water head and the width of the pit, the higher the water head or the wider the pit, the larger the uplift deformation of the soil beneath the pit, and the greater the possibility and extent of inrushing plastic deformation failure of the soil beneath the pit. However, the influence of the length of the pit on the uplift deformation and inrushing plastic deformation failure of the soil beneath the pit is small, and it is a non-sensitive factor. Finally, some suggestions helpful for design and construction of the pit with confined water are given in this paper.
