Characteristics of Earth Pressure and Soil Displacement Surrounding Deep Underground Structures

The utilization of great, deep, underground space (50 m below ground surface) is becoming increasingly important; thus, it becomes very necessary to study the pressure and deformation for the great, deep, underground structures. In this paper, a series of finite element analysis was adopted to simulate the construction process of new pneumatic caisson and diaphragm wall for the great, deep, underground structure. Based on the numerical results, the distributions of earth pressure and soil displacements surrounding the deep underground structures were studied. Compared to the shallow underground structures, the characteristics of earth pressure surrounding the deep underground structures were analyzed.
