Building the Invisible Garage
This article presents a case study of the Kansas Statehouse parking garage, a 550-space underground facility that has transformed the experience of both visitors and staff in addition to solving logistical and practical parking concerns for the 140-year old capitol building. The author describes the planning and design of the facility, challenges to construction, the importance of safety and security in the design, and the role of collaboration in bringing the project to completion.
