The influence of shell's shape in ship design

The paper presents a study on shell-metal casing in order to improve the ship design process for respecting the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulation. A ship, as a multifunctional marine structure on the sea, has structural vibration that may affect both the comfort of the crew and the life of the environment’s fauna. An experimental modal analysis is made. The results from diagrams show that decreasing of the curvature is favourable in increasing the natural frequency of the shell metal plate.
