Case study: The Argentina Road Safety Project: lessons learned for the decade of action for road safety, 2011-2020

This article describes the Argentina Road Safety Project, which followed the World Bank road safety project guidelines in order to improve management, leadership, and partnership in highway safety. The study describes the implementation of recommendations from the World Report on Road Traffic Injury and the launch of the Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011-2020). The project involved developing sustainable road safety and shifting to a "Safe System" approach, which required the road safety management system to be strengthened. The article covers safety performance and initiatives in Argentina before and during the project and discusses innovation and lessons learned.
