The transient value of time
The amount that travelers value their time is useful for transportation authorities to take into account when planning for funding and investment. It is necessary to collect information about user preferences in order to make decisions for effective transportation. The value of time shows the trade-off users are willing to make between time and money. Monetary results can be estimated with analytical models to determine whether users are willing to pay more for faster transportation options. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) can enhance efficiency, and value of time can help planners prioritize which ITS solutions to prioritize. The decision-making process will allow authorities to plan for transportation systems effectively with users in mind.
