California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook

Incompatible development near airports can result in complaints and demands for restrictions on airport operations and may threaten the ability to operate efficiently and serve their function in the local economy. To avoid such conflicts, California requires that land use compatibility plans be developed and implemented. This planning handbook provides Airport Land Use Commissions in California guidance for the preparation, adoption and amendment of an Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan. It presents information about relevant regulatory and statutory requirements as well as best practices.
