DETERMINATION OF THE GENERAL NOISE EMISSION ON A ROAD

A METHOD OF DETERMINING THE GENERAL LEVEL OF NOISE ON A ROAD IS PROPOSED AND DESCRIBED. THE METHOD IS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR USE ON MAIN AND THROUGH ROADS UNCONTROLLED BY TRAFFIC SIGNALS, AND ON THE BASIS OF SHORT TERM MEASUREMENTS, GIVES ACCURATE RESULTS. ACCOUNT IS TAKEN OF FLUCTUATIONS IN NOISE NUISANCE WHICH RESULT FROM THE FACT THAT THE TEST CONDITIONS AT THE TIME AND THE PLACE OF THE MEASUREMENT ARE NOT ALWAYS REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE PURPOSE OF EVALUATION. (THESE CONDITIONS ARE WEATHER, TRAFFIC VOLUME AND COMPOSITION, TIME OF DAY ETC.). /TRRL/
