New Mexico’s North Central Regional Transit District: Embracing the Regional Rural Reality

New Mexico's North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) was created in 2004, and since that time, it has established itself as having a vital role in connecting communities through its forward-thinking strategies and practices, thus embraced by the leaders and citizens of that region. NCRTD serves four counties, six pueblos, two cities and one town in the state’s north central region, a service area of more than 10,000 square miles and 238,00 people. It also manages to provide that service free of charge to its riders. How it manages itself with such success is the focus of this article.
