Recent developments at the NUTEP and MANP container terminals, Russia

With different modes of transportation vying for a share of the business, freight transportation is a highly competitive market. In order for freight transportation to be able to compete with other modes, there must be a good railway infrastructure with links to various catchment areas, short-handling and transit times, good warehouse facilities and logistics, amongst others. In addition, offering efficient, fast and cost-effective container handling facilities is important for container terminals. Recent developments at the NUTEP container terminal in Novorossiysk and at the MANP container terminal near Moscow are the focus of this article. Both of these terminals, in order to meet increased rail freight transportation demand in Russia, are expanding their container handling capacity.
