Shaping Modern Infrastructure

Concrete standards have been developed for a century by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Committee C09. Committee C09 has work to ensure quality concrete is produced around the world. A partnership with the American Concrete Institute was established in 1936 and has helped both organizations to develop standards. One of Committee C09’s most important developments has been the Specification for Ready-Mixed Concrete. Ready-mixed concrete is one of the most widely used building materials, and the concrete industry produces approximately $30 billion worth a year. As concrete technology moves forward, Committee C09 continues to work to develop standards that meet the needs of the industry.
