Addressing Future Capacity Needs in the U.S. Aviation System

This paper explores the U.S. aviation system's impact on the U.S. economy, passenger growth in air travel, and aviation system capacity constraints. Case studies of John F. Kennedy Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and San Francisco International Airport illustrate present and future capacity constraints. Suggestions for addressing capacity limits and policy recommendations are included.
